Dragon Ball DAIMA Announces S1 End

So let’s clear up some questions and hopefully some plot holes

This most interesting series from the late Akira Toriyama has really caused a lot of discussion and upheaval. Some may even say that this both positively and negatively fills the plot holes in the story since the era of Dragon Ball and early parts of DBZ. Now that an official end to Season 1 was announced for February 28th this year, let’s take some time to reflect on the series so far and some of the major impacts it has had on the franchise as a whole. At first we didn’t like and and many still don’t, but cannot deny the impact that it has had thus far.

The Demon Realm and HFIL are not the same and are vastly different.

So we finally get an understanding that the Demon Realm is on a separate plane of existence from the mortal realm, but not so much like with King Yama (remember him) and his world of the after life with heaven and HFIL (Hell for Infinite Losers). The Demon Realm exists as a separate dimension in 3 different realms: First, Second and Third Realms, and apparently was the original dimension before the Original Supreme Demon King had the Mortal Universes created, but more on that later. So yeah where-as Majin Buu was able to visit the afterlife, he was not able to actually go back to the Demon Realm where he originated from.

Supreme Kai has SIBLINGS? Is a DEMON? And is a….FRUIT?!

So in short, the Kais are actually demons from the Second Demon Realm and grow off of special life trees. This is especially important because this could even be a tie-in to the Tree of Might movie where the special life fruits grow from the planet eater trees. Maybe a bit of a pull, but there were big similarities. Also Shin’s, or really Nahare’s, sibling are Degesu and Dr. Arinsu. Even though they are his siblings, they are that only because they grew off the same tree, but they couldn’t be any more different. Where Shin becomes the new Supreme Kai of the Mortal Realm, his brother Degesu serves the New Demon King and Dr. Arinsu is pretty much being painted out as a mad scientist type with her own agenda.

Namekians (or really “Nameks”) are confirmed demons and the origin of Demon King Piccolo has been revealed.

Aside from changing “Namekians” into “Nameks,” the origin of the green dragon ball creators have been up in the air since Dragon Ball. Originally Demon King Piccolo, who’s we also find out is the son of the Namek Katas, was proclaimed a demon, but then in DBZ we learn that Nameks were an alien race and then in the Moro Arc from DB Super, they are demons again. There was no real understanding, but we finally have an answer. Nameks originated from the Second Demon Realm and left just as the with the Kais. The Nameks split apart and while most settled on a planet very similar to their own, many other settled on different planets and different universes. An unnamed Namek settled on Earth and separated his body into Kami and King Piccolo.

Majin Buu was a FLUKE?

This one really threw fans for a loop as the ultra powerful Majin Buu “was a mistake.” After Dr. Arinsu finds the Majin witch that created Majin Buu, she orders another be made. And get this, Buu is actually a demonic power boost of a Saibaman?!?! Yes! Saibaman seeds are planted into a special brew to create the Majin entity, but the new Majins created Kuu and Duu seem so much weaker than the original so called “fluke.”

The First Supreme Demon King had the universes created.

Now we are diving into parallels with Zeno. We know that in Super, Zeno is the king of all Universes or the King of All, but was the Original Supreme Demon King his father? This is not confirmed, but is a question that is considered due to the fact that we know that the Original Supreme Demon King ordered the Mortal Universes to be created. There isn’t much more information here so as we get other plot holes filled, now we open another.

The Truth behind the Dragon Balls is revealed.

So we were also introduced to the original creator of the Dragon Balls, Neva, who created them as a reward for the Nameks who went through major trials. He later locked them away in robotic warriors when other demons found out about them and wanted to use their power. We were originally told in Super that Zamala, created the very first set of Dragon Ball, the Super Dragon Balls, but now that we have learned that the Original Supreme Demon King had the mortal realm created, this now charts that the Demon Realm Dragon Balls are the original and Neva is the original creator. This also explains his connection to the various other balls and how he can awaken them from their slumber early.

Super Saiyan 3 is unique depending on the character.

Daima breaks the internet again when Kid Vegeta finally goes Super Saiyan 3 for the first time. Vegeta is well known to skip power-ups that we only see the Son family achieve, so to see him finally go SS3 was a joy…until it was revealed. Where we saw that Gotenks (the fusion of Trunks and Goten) go SS3 and their hair look exactly like Goku’s did, Vegeta’s did not do the same. Now this could be homage to the original design that Toriyama did for SS3 that he later scrapped, but this could also detail that Super Saiyan power-ups vary from person to person and differ with different hairstyles. We can even compare to Beast Form Gohan from DB Super Hero who’s hairstyle favors SS3 Kid Vegeta minus a color change. Not everyone has to have the same hairstyle in each form, this has always been an apparant staple, but as kids we always assumed that the higher the Super Saiyan level, the more hair. SS2 has more hair and spikes and SS3 have even more hair. This was especially challenged in GT when we go SS4. as fans we designed so many staple images as SS5 all the way to SS10, so to see that SS3 could be something so different pretty much made fans feel attacked.

There are so many other things that happened, like the understanding that Magic and Ki are vastly different, which really explains A LOT in the Moro Arc; the understanding of Dabura and his father, Abura; and so much more. This alone doesn’t even cover half of the reveals or even goes deep into the story. Want a full breakdown of the series? Check out our podcast as we breakdown the series and deeply began to understand what impact this season, well really this series, has on the franchise and I’m sure many of our questions will be answered. I’ll see you guys there.
