  • Spider-Man 2 releases on PC this January

  • Rumored Venom Story DLC cancelled

Change of plans for DLC?

This weekend, NYCC 2025 has revealed quite a few interesting things, one of which that has many fans upset. Insomniac Games released Spider-Man 2 for the PS5 in October 2023, and has had a swarming of great reviews since it’s release. We had an opportunity to continue to the story of Insomniac’s versions of Miles and Peter as they save New York from villains as Kraven the Hunter and Venom. The later which caused many rumors to spark since the end of last year that Insomniac has been working on a DLC to expand the story for Venom, especially after the cliffhanger ending.

Well unfortunately, those rumors have come to an end as Insomniac has officially announced that they “ no additional story content for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.” This has upset many fans as they were hoping for a chance to expand on the infamous symbiote especially since Marvel has teamed up with many fans on TikTok and YouTube (i.e. CalebCity did a huge collab reel with several other content creators) to advertise the new film, Venom: The Last Dance, the third and supposed finale of the Venom-verse set to release to theaters the end of this month on the 24th.

This has caused many questions to rise, such as whether or not gaming developers even really want money since they seem to not be listening to the fans as much. But will Insomniac do the same as they did with Miles Morales’ story and, instead of making it a DLC, decide to work on and make an entirely different game altogether? Insomniac’s Spider-Man: Miles Morals was met with high praise, but was still scolded for it’s price-point as it it was not nearly as long as the first game, but cost just as much upon release. If there is a new game in the works centered around Venom, will it be another short game just like before or will we actually get a full game for a full price?

PC Release Date

In positive news, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set for PC release on January 25, 2025 with many people excited for it finally join STEAM alongside its predecessors. However, this news is not met without its own controversy. PlayStation games set to release on PC have already drawn a multitude of negative attention with the requirement that the PC users have to have a PS account to play or access content. Many fans are nervous that the same will continue to happen due to the rise of games that now have this required feature, limiting freedom of play.

In regards still to the excitement, Nixxes is excited to remaster the game and bring it to PC for users to enjoy the same experience that PS% players recieved the chance to get, Julian Huijbregts, the Nixxes Community Manager had this to say:

“Bringing Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to a new audience on PC together with Insomniac and Marvel Games has been a great experience for us at Nixxes. We are excited to continue this collaboration and bring Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to PC with a suite of enhanced features, including enhanced ray-tracing options, to take full advantage of a variety of setups and configurations. Stay tuned for more details on features and recommended specs closer to launch.”

As you can tell, they are excited to see what the can bring to the table. Nixxes has ported multiple games since being acquired by Sony back in 2021 and they are regarded as one of the better developing companies that help release games. We are excited to see how well they do here.

In conclusion with this News Break, IGN has heavily stepped to promise that they will have plenty of walkthroughs when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases on PC this upcoming January. We are ZONEing out on this for now, but how do you feel about all this? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
